Points of entry: before & beyond is a research-based exhibition of works in which the concept of the entry point is examined. This body of work revisits the related motif of the juncture, or the coming together of disparate lines and horizons, and makes material the artist’s perspectives about what happens just before and beyond the point at which these lines and horizons converge.
Adam Staples is an artist-academic living and practising on Dja Dja Wurrung country. Adam's recent practice focuses on mapping and describing the impact of rapid homogenisation on place and memory as a consequence of anthropogenic interference. Adam interweaves his contemporary encounters of place, both natural and manmade, with memories drawn from formative years spent living in disparate countries such as Libya, Zimbabwe, the UK and Australia.
This exhibition is part of the Artist on View initiative by Bendigo Venues & Events & is supported by the 150th Anniversary of Tertiary education in Bendigo.
